Window Savvy FAQ

Have a window treatment-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • What is the difference between blinds, shades, shutters, and draperies?

Window blinds come in a variety of styles and sizes with vertical or horizontal slats that tilt back and forth to control light and privacy. A blind can be lowered entirely, yet still allow light to come through. The most popular and top-rated blinds are vertical window blinds, aluminum blinds, and faux wood blinds.

A shade is one piece of material that raises and lowers but does not have moveable slats. Window dressings come in different colors, patterns, and even textures to complement and accentuate the decor of any room, and they are the preferred insulators. Some of our bestseller shades include solar and roller shades, Roman shades, and cellular shades.

Always offering durability and privacy, shutters come in a myriad of styles. The slats of shutters can also be adjusted to let in a desired amount of light. Indoor shutters block light and provide ultimate privacy. Window shutters come in wood, wood composite, and vinyl. The louvers can be operated with ease into open and closed positions as per your requirement and the amount of light you want. If you wish to have the gentle illumination of your home with the natural light from outside, then just keep the louvers in an open position, and if you do not want the light and heat to enter your home, then just place the louvers in a closed position. They enhance the look of the windows of your home and can give a boost to the overall decor of your home.

To get the elegant look, install drapery hardware on a curtain rod. You can have these draperies in a variety of colors and operate them in style by drawing them on one or both sides of a window.

According to energy.gov, around 30% of a home's heating energy is lost through its windows. Any of our window treatments can help you save on your heating costs and upgrade the appearance of your home. Contact us today to learn more about our variety of window treatments.

  • Are your window coverings child safe?

If your window treatments have cords, then they can be strangulation hazards to kids and pets. But most of our products come with cordless and motorized options that ensure these window coverings are safe for your home. If you would like to upgrade from your current corded window treatments, call us today to schedule a window treatment service.

  • How do cordless blinds work?

Cordless lifts have a special mechanism that allows you to operate the shade by hand, lifting or lowering it with a push or pull on the shade itself. Motorized options allow you to control the shades with a remote control, operating from anywhere in the room or even when you aren’t home through a web app or smartphone. If you're interested in any of our modern cordless window treatments, feel free to give us a call for more information.
